Lunch (and Free Time)

All Ages

So much of what we do at Roots Collective is centered around building community. Sharing a meal together is a great way to build community and boost our friendships while we enjoy some unstructured time together. Participants are always welcome to participate in the lunch hour regardless of weather they are attending classes all day. Lunch can be provided by each individual family or participant as a packed meal OR participants are welcome to participate in our soup lunch program.

Each week Roots Collective volunteers provide and prepare an option of soups for lunch. On a typical week two options are available and will include options like these examples: Homemade Chicken and Rice, Chili, Tomato and Pasta, Vegetable Barley, Baked Potato Soup, Cheddar and Broccoli, Butternut Squash, etc. Soups are typically paired and rolls, fruit, and snacks to round out the meal. Participants also wash out their own soup bowl and other dishes to help lower our environmental impact and pitch in to make the program run smoothly.

Cost per participant: $25 per session (3 and under are free to participate with parents)

1:00-2:30

Block Party: The Ultimate Build Challenge

Ages 6-12

Kids test their engineering skills by building with a new material each week. They solve fun, hands-on design challenges using items like cardboard, blocks, and craft sticks. Every single class brings a fresh mystery mission. Kids plan, test, and build their own unique creations.

Create a castle that can withstand a catapult. Design a build that solves a problem or that is like nothing you have ever seen before! This hands on class is for elementary school students of all ages and will allow students to problem solve as well as stretch their imagination.

Cost - $65 per student
